Section 3 - Policies and Procedures

  • Have policies and procedures been assessed to ensure that literacy, language and numeracy is incorporated?
  • Have policies and procedures been assessed for readability levels? Eg using the SMOG test or similar?

Examples of evidence

  1. For example, the learning and development policy provides an allocated amount of protected time for all staff to undertake learning and development activities related to their job roles. Staff who have been assessed to have LLN gaps are given additional protected time.
  2. For example, the equality and diversity policy ensures that those with specific learning disabilities (such as dyslexia) and those whose first language is not English are given access to appropriate support.
  3. Those with responsibility for writing / reviewing policies and procedures have undertaken appropriate LLN training such as awareness raising.
