Use our template to develop a WOA

There are two things to remember when planning to implement a Whole Organisation Approach (WOA) to LLN, which will influence what your strategy looks like:

1. The health sector framework for implementing a WOA encourages your organisation to use its own framework as the starting point.
2. This approach aims to support your organisation in achieving its priorities and plans. Flexibility in how you use the framework is a core characteristic.
   

Short term strategic planning

In the short term, it is imperative that structures and systems are put into place that will support your organisation in implementing a WOA. This may include a combination of the following:

• LLN Steering Group
• LLN Strategy
• LLN Action Plan

The aim is to ensure that LLN is incorporated into your organisation’s existing strategies, systems and processes so that it becomes embedded into everything that your organisation does.

Having separate LLN structures should be carefully time limited to guard against LLN being seen as a separate agenda.

An effective WOA strategy should include:

• Board and senior level commitment and accountability.
• Responsibility for implementing a WOA allocated across the whole organisation. Key directors and leads will each take responsibility for its development within their sphere of operation.
  

• Formulating a WOA strategy
