Investors in People (IIP) sets out to deliver continuous business improvement to organisations through the development of business improvement tools enabling people management and people development within the UK. This could include literacy, language and numeracy.

The Skills Pledge represents one way in which employers can become more effective by improving the skills of their workforce.
The Skills Pledge should lead to all employees developing their skills to at minimum of Level 2 qualification. The purpose is to ensure that all employees are skilled, competent and able to make a full contribution to the success of their organisation. The provision of career and learning support through information, advice and guidance are mandatory elements of the Skills Pledge. For those employees who do not already have a first Level 2 qualification, the Government will provide funding to help them gain Literacy and Numeracy skills as well as their first Level 2 qualification.
